Gerald
Janey (gjaney@massasoit.mass.edu) is chair of the Department of
Engineering Technology department at Massasoit. He was born and
raised in Boston, attended Boston English High School and Newman
Preparatory School before becoming an undergraduate at Boston State
College, from which he graduated with a BS in Physics. He earned
a Master of Science degree in Physics in 1973 thanks, in part, to an
award of a Martin Luther King, Jr. Graduate Fellowship. He has
worked as an electronics engineer at the Missile Systems Division of
Raytheon, which he left after six years to pursue a college teaching
career. He has taught at Boston State College, Northeastern
University, Roxbury Community College, the University of Nairobi, Kenya
Polytechnic Institute, and Massasoit Community College. He has
also held a number of administrative positions, including Assistant
Dean of Academic Affairs, Division Dean, and Dean of Academic
Affairs. He has participated in Title III Grant writing and the
Verizon-Community College Partnership. He belongs to IEEE, MAA,
and APS.
